Field Hockey Camp: What do you Need to Bring to Camp?

School is close to being out for the summer, which means you’re oh so close to being free for a couple months. Chances are you have some fun activities already planned, one of which includes heading to field hockey camp.

If you’re already locked in to join us at one of our Revolution Field Hockey camps across the nation, we’re excited that you’re coming! Our goal is to provide an environment where you can improve as a field hockey player and have fun doing it in a positive environment. In order to make the most of your experience, it’s important to make sure you’ve packed the necessary gear before leaving your house. There are a few different camps to participate in this summer, some of which include: day camps, half-day camps, extended day camps and overnight camps.

Whichever camp you choose to attend will dictate exactly how much stuff you should be packing, but here are some of the basics:

  • A field hockey stick
  • Shin guards
  • Two mouthpieces
  • Goggles (these are recommended)
  • Pads, kickers, gloves, helmet (this is for goalies only)
  • Cleats, turf shoes or running shoes
  • Sunscreen
  • Athletic socks
  • T-shirts/ tank/shorts

If you’re planning on attending one of Revolution’s overnight field hockey camps, make sure you add these items to your packing checklist, as well:

  • Bedding (pillow and pillow case, twin XL sheets)
  • Fans (when dorm rooms don’t have air conditioning)
  • Off-field clothes
  • Flip flops
  • Toiletries
  • Shower towel
  • Alarm clock (probably your phone, so bring a phone charger, too!)

We just like to make sure you’re prepared! Even if you’ve been to one of our camps in the past, don’t expect the exact same experience. Our goal is to make each camp unique to one another. Not only would it be boring if it was the same thing over and over again, but it would be harder for you to grow as a field hockey player!

Camp directors are able to bring their own style to the field, implementing proven methods and techniques on the field, all while reaching the needs of our campers in attendance.

In order to learn and get the most from field hockey camp, it’s important to come prepared with proper equipment from the start. Not only does this allow you to hit the ground running upon checking in and the instruction starts, but you’ll also feel much more comfortable. Everybody prefers using their own stick as opposed to anyone else’s, so it’s a good idea to double- and triple-check your bag to make sure you’ve got everything needed before hopping in the car and heading to camp.

When you’re properly equipped with all your gear, our camp directors can be sure everyone is following safety guidelines, which allows them to focus on helping you become a better field hockey player from a mental, physical and emotional standpoint.

So, always make sure you have what’s needed before coming to enjoy a great experience!
